Description
PLEX Elite 9000 uses a swept-source tunable laser with a wavelength of 1060 nm. The system can reach a speed up to 100,000 A-scans/s. However, the axial resolution of 6.3 μm is lower than the SD-OCT-based Cirrus HD-OCTs system.
PLEX Elite 9000 SS-OCT (ZEISS) is a device that can take pictures of blood vessels in the retina without using a contrast medium and take tomographic images.
PLEX Elite 9000 Clinical Evaluation
Clinical imaging performed on human eyes for each scan type supported by the PLEX Elite system is provided to demonstrate the ability of the PLEX Elite 9000 to image the posterior element with a wider field of view, increased depth penetration, and a higher signal-to-noise ratio as compared to the CIRRUS HD-OCT system.
To demonstrate the ability of the PLEX Elite 9000 angiography scans to image a range of retinal vascular pathologies affecting different anatomic depths through the retina and choroid, a clinical report is provided that includes clinical images from a case series study comparing PLEX Elite 9000 OCT angiography to FA, ICGA, CIRRUS HD-OCT angiography, and color fundus photography from subjects with varying retinal pathologies including retinal ischemia, microaneurysms, choroidal neovascularization, and retinal neovascularization.
In addition, the clinical report compares PLEX Elite 9000 OCT angiography with ICGA images for lesions of the choroid, such as choroidal polyps in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and choroidal neovascular membranes.
Elite 9000 to produce high-quality images of the retina and choroid. The PLEX Elite 9000 angiography scans were shown to image the structures of the retina and choroid and the predicate CIRRUS HD- OCT device.
Features of ZEISS PLEX Elite 9000:
- Swept Source Dual-Speed OCT:Â Deeper, faster, higher resolution, and dual-speed new PLEX Elite 9000 take clinical research and ophthalmic imaging to the next level. Clinicians can use the information derived from this dual-speed OCT device for investigating any clinical scan benefits acquired at a scan speed of 200kHz.
- Helps Explore Deeper Meanings:Â Exploring deeper meaning is made possible with the ZEISS PLEX Elite 9000. This device helps clinical researchers see profoundly and widely the potential disease. This device does everything from exploring retinal progression to evaluating choroid and retina response. This device can even explore choroidal pathology.
Specifications
The ZEISS PLEX Elite 9000 is a transformational technology that enables researchers to discover microvascular anatomy through OCT or Optical Coherence Tomography. This machine is foundational to the future of retina research and the comprehensive understanding of retina disease. It provides highly detailed imagery of the retinas.
The typical OCT instrument is complex, leading to a product and diagnostic that can be intimidating for the patient and challenging for the clinician. The design of the Zeiss PLEX Elite 9000 solves these issues by radically simplifying the forms, creating a friendly focal point for the patient, and devising well thought out adjustability and visibility of the patient for the clinician.
The cleverly arranged internals are all packaged in a compact enclosure that fits well into labs and ophthalmology offices with limited real estate for instruments.
The first two-speed optical coherence tomography (OCT) with a capacity of 200,000 scans (slices) per second.
ZEISS’s PLEX® Elite 9000 platform is a state-of-the-art optical coherence tomograph whose technology opens new horizons for retinal and glaucoma specialists regarding the eye’s anatomical structure and microvascular network.
The eye tomograph quickly and accurately scans the structures in the posterior eye segment. It provides detailed information on a wide range of tests related to diagnosing and following significant diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and others.
The scanning speed and depth of the PLEX® Elite 9000 are almost twice as good as the technical capabilities of conventional optical eye tomographs, which take eye imaging to another level.
Two-speed technology expands the scope of research and facilitates decision-making by specialists, which is of direct clinical benefit to all patients. The device also has an additional module that performs non-invasive wide-angle angiography of the retinal blood vessels with just one scan.
The relative difference between the measured values
For each parameter, we determined the mean and standard deviation and the two-way mixed, single score intraclass correlation coefficient agreement (ICCa) and the two-way mixed, single score intraclass correlation coefficient consistency (ICCc). Also, we determined the coefficient of determination (R2).
We investigated whether vascular parameters of the two devices differ according to MNV type, differentiating types 1, 2, and 3. To compare the MNV parameters, we calculated the relative difference, as for each pair of observations (Xi, Yi), the difference was normalized using the mean: ((Xi – Yi)/(0.5 * (Xi + Yi)))
